Northwoods Progressive is a two-person local reporting project covering northeast Wisconsin and Michigan’s Upper Peninsula. These terms cover this website and the software we publish with. They are short because there is not much here: we publish reporting, and you read it.
We report on public meetings, public officials acting in their public roles, and public records. We try hard to get it right, and we state our sources. We do not guarantee that everything here is free of error, and nothing on this site is legal advice.
If we get something wrong, tell us. We correct promptly and visibly: in the video and pinned at the top, not quietly edited into a description.
Our written pages and our original video and audio are our copyright. Quoting us, linking to us, and short excerpts for commentary, criticism, teaching or news reporting are fine and encouraged — credit “Northwoods Progressive” and link back where you can.
For anything more than that, including republishing a piece in full, ask us first. We are generally happy to say yes, especially to other local outlets and to community groups.
Government records, agendas, packets and the underlying proceedings we film are public material. We claim no ownership over them, only over our own recordings, edits and writing.
We publish using our own command-line tool, np‑yt. It runs on our computer and manages our own YouTube channel. It is not a service offered to anyone else: there is no account to create, nothing to sign in to, and no user data involved. If you have arrived here from a Google consent screen, that is what the application is.
We link to source documents, news coverage and our own YouTube channel. We do not control those sites and are not responsible for their content or their privacy practices. Watching our videos on YouTube puts you under Google’s terms, not ours.
This site is provided as is, without warranties of any kind. We are not liable for any loss arising from your use of it, to the extent the law allows.
